Eating in secret? Lots of Rules about food? Are there things going on for you that are emotionally de-stabilising?

Answering yes to any or all of these in conjunction with large amounts of food and your eating might be termed as ‘binges’.

The technical definition of a binge is consuming large amounts of food at a single sitting way beyond standard portions e.g.: instead of having two biscuits, you eat a packet, instead of eating one chocolate bar you eat four (packets of crisps is also a classic here!). You eat a main meal and then cannot leave the fridge alone!

Binge eating can relate to a lack of control around food or using food as a substitute or for emotional comfort. Many people experience this at some point in their life - male and female.

Unlike Bulimia the food is not purged. This condition can cause anxiety, shame, panic disorder, depression and eventually heart and circulatory problems.

How hypnotherapy helps

We will take a look at your particular set of circumstances – you probably know by now when and how the binges take place. The key to working with Binging is to clear the underlying drivers – this is often sadness or lack of self esteem or even a situation where you feel out of control.

Hypnotherapy is an excellent intervention for this condition. Combined with behavioural support and self acceptance, powerful shifts can be achieved quite quickly.

Clinical Hypnotherapy is a powerful, safe and fast tool in the right hands. Look at How Hypnotherapy Works for a jargon free explanation of this process.

*Please note that the time needed to work on a problem can vary significantly from person to person, these examples are provided to give you an idea of the efficacy of Hypnotherapy, but are not intended as an indication of what you might expect personally.
